Float the Cedar River

CANOE, KAYAK, FLOAT!

Recreation enthusiasts enjoy the Cedar River by kayaking, canoeing, or floating. User friendly access points in Charles City will lead you to Cedar Lake where you can exit at Cedar View Park, Lakeshore Park, or Veterans Memorial Park. Charles City’s Memorial Park to Nashua’s Veterans Memorial Park is approximately a 6 hour kayak and canoe trip. Immediately upstream of Charles City’s Memorial Park is a Whitewater course which may be utilized to start your float off with a challenge and thrill. Cedar Lake is created by a dam adjacent to Nashua’s Veterans Memorial Park. Portage from the North side of the dam to below the dam is enabled by access points at Veterans Memorial Park. Nashua’s Veterans Memorial Park to North Cedar Park at Plainfield is approximately a 6 hour kayak and canoe trip. Take advantage of any public access points to customize your float trip along the beautiful Cedar River.

Float times are average travel times during normal river levels. Trip times may be shorter during times of high river levels, and longer during times of low river levels.
