LAKE & DAM COMMITTEE
The Nashua Lake & Dam Committee is a group of seven (7) community members appointed by the City Council to research methods to increase and maintain the depth of Cedar Lake and research sources of funding to promote economic development, recreation, and other uses of the lake. The Lake & Dam committee members serve four (4) year staggered terms. There are no residency requirements for serving on the Lake and Dam Committee. The Lake & Dam Committee works closely with the DNR on water depth and watershed management of the Cedar River and Cedar Lake area, organizes projects for lake improvements, and oversees they city budget for Lake & Dam. LIBRARY BOARD
The Nashua Public Library is managed by a board of seven (7) trustees appointed to staggered 6-year terms. The Library Board is a vital component to the success of the local library providing direct oversight of staffing, policies, finances, and directing all other affairs of the Library. Library Board Trustees are appointed by the Mayor of Nashua with approval from the City Council (resident trustees) or County Board of Supervisors (nonresident trustee*). Six (6) members must be residents of Nashua, one (1) member must be a nonresident. To get involved with the Library Board, please contact the Mayor.
PARK BOARD
The Nashua Park Board is a group of seven (7) community members appointed by the City Council to manage all city property and facilities devoted to parks and recreation purposes. The Park Board members serve four (4) year staggered terms. There are no residency requirements for serving on the Park Board. The Park Board organizes park clean-up days, plans and hosts park events, oversees Cedar View Campground operations, and manages projects and budget for city parks. SCHOOL BOARD
The Nashua-Plainfield School District is governed by an elected 5-member Board of Directors. The School Board is tasked with ensuring high achievement for all students, setting expectations and holding the school system accountable for ongoing improvements, and being fiscal stewards of taxpayer investment in education. School Board elections are held in September of odd years, and elected members take office immediately at the first School Board meeting following the election. District 1 is composed of the N-P school district area within Chickasaw county. District 2 is composed of the N-P school district area within Floyd, Butler, and Bremer counties.
COUNTY SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors is the executive, governing, and policymaking body of the County, under the laws of Iowa. It is the liaison office between County, City, State and Federal offices. The official duties of the office are set out in Section 331.201 of the Iowa Code. Nashua is positioned in District 2 of Chickasaw County. Regular elections for County Supervisor are held on even years in November; the staggered terms are four (4) years beginning in January of odd years.
